Vitkovice Milmet CNG vehicles on podium of VIII Economy Super Test !
Exhibited by by Vitkovice Milmet company vehicles with original CNG installation made by car company - Opel Zafira 1.6 EcoFlex Turbo and Volkswagen Passat 1.4 TSI EcoFuel – located on the second and third place in general classification of VIII Economy Super Test. By this fact we demonstrate our ecology and economy superiority in range of earth gas utilization for cars powering. The main aim of such sport event is demonstration of the most economical and ecological vehicles. In this year in this sport event participated 12 cars with dual powering of earth gas and diesel oil. This event is the greatest and most reputable struggle for drivers in Poland. Participation in event was possible thanks to invitation of portal cng.auto.pl. It is not the secret that results of this year Economy Super Test edition were the surprise for all – even for drivers. For sure such exceptionally low fuel consumption had been caused by weather ( ambient temperature about 25 °C without rain ) and partly route also – organizers choose districts, domestic and express roads. Participants ought to cower the loop distance of length about 300 kilometres. Start and finish were in Warsaw, and participants derived through Dęblin, Puławy, Radom with return way to capitol. The greater part represent inbuilt area, but several dozen kilometres participants ought to drive in city conditions on territory of Warsaw agglomeration. Thanks to favour of company Michelin for the part of cars had been installed special tiers with low rolling resistance named as “Energy Saver”. Winner of Super Test, Mr. Wojciech Morawiec, in his w Fiat Panda Natural Power especially installed counter with tachometer and carried out tests in the test bench for checking of optimal fuel combustion. Successive edition of Super Test fully confirmed that vehicles powered by compressed earth gas (CNG) are unbeatable in the range of fuel consumption costs among current available fuels on Polish market. During last year edition vehicles powered by methane occupied four leading locations and were ahead the vehicles powered by diesel oil and hybrid vehicles. Last year the first place obtained Mr. Andrzej Bagniewski who was driving Opel Zafira A 1.6 CNG ( in this year edition he obtained the third place in car VW Passat 1.4 TSI EcoFuel ). This year edition showed also the new trend in cars with factory’s installation of earth gas powering. The second and the third place were obtained by vehicles with CNG engines of power 150 KM, equipped with turbocharger. As it is visible additional air supply has unusually positive influence not only on vehicle’s dynamics but on gas consumption also. It necessary to pay attention also for earth gas consumption of delivery trucks. attention. Extraordinary low fuel demand showed Mercedes Sprinter NGT, derived by Mr. Adam Staniszewski, representing Authorized Dealer of Mercedes-Benz from Poznań - STS Centrum Dystrybucji Samochodów. Installed engine in vehicle with engine cubic capacity of 1.8 liter and horse power 156 KM, consumed 5,04 m3 of gas on distance 100 kilometres only !. This vehicle of total weight about 1900 kg can cover the distance of 100 kilometres for total cost of 13 zł and 11 gr only. The better result in comparison with last year results had been obtained by Iveco Daily Natural Power and gas consumption was less of 2 m3 on distance of 100 ( nevertheless of working air conditioner ). Economy Super Test demonstrate that by using of several tricks is possible real ecological and economical driving. Demonstrate also that vehicles powered by gasoline and by diesel oil have no chance in driving economy in comparison with vehicles powered by earth gas (CNG). Comments of drivers represented Vitkovice Milmet after race. Mariusz Roksela : My result was obtained by dynamic and balanced driving ( the second place in VIII Economy Super Test 2011). During the test I had occasion to drive Opel Zafira 1.6 CNG Ecoflex Turbo. My employer afford me this vehicle. For me this test had been the excellent fun, increasing of my abilities in driving and some form of promotion for the most friendly fuel for internal combustion vehicles powering on our planet. Privately this test was also the test of Opel Zafira as the family car, because my intention is to by such car. Car for test was equipped with excellent Michelin Energy Saver tiers, with air pressure inside recommended by producer. My final result – the second place in general classification – I owe to several factors : economical and calm driving, full usage of 6 gear gearbox and turbine, excellent tiers, ability to situation expectation on the route and atmospheric and road conditions during the test. Car except tiers was fully factory manufactured piece with seven seats. As the additional equipment it can be only treated CB Radio – which help me in expectation of events on the road before me. Route of Test was diverse – that is to say city roads, suburban roads and two ways roads. Whole Test had been excellent organized, described and carried out. From this place I would like to acknowledge competitors, colleagues, organizers and sponsors. I hope that in next year I will have the chance to participate in that test also. Privately I can recommend Opel Zafira 1.6 CNG EcoFlex Turbo – as dynamic, comfortable and functional vehicle but first of all ECONOMICAL and ECOLOGICAL. Andrzej Bagniewski : Turbine in engine powered by CNG changes a lot ! ( the third place in VIII Economy Super Test 2011, the first place in VII Economy Super Test 2010 ).For the first time I have pleasure to drive car with factory manufactured CNG installation and turbocharger. It was not easy to reach the best eco style because I am accustomed to normal CNG unit in Zafira. However habits do not allow to forgot them ! In the beginning I took range of eco rotations the same like in Zafira, i.e. 1500-2000, but for engine TSI and 6 gear gearbox this rotation range is 1200 - 1400. This conclusion I found just before Dęblin. Several times I found that I choose the fifth gear instead the sixth gear – it is the habit from Zafira also. For maximal eco-driving I resigned for using of air conditioner and I closed all windows. It changed condition inside car for very hard and difficult. Michelin provided tiers for vehicle of type Pilot Super Sport and not Energy Saver. VW Passat Had also changed rim made of aluminium for sport purposes. Did not help also width of tiers - 235 mm because is rather weak connected with eco-driving. I resigned also to use some of tricks which I use in my car. Instinctively I took bigger safety margin, for example distance between truck in front of me. I think that obtained result is positive. Nevertheless CNG price increasing, driving cost of 100 km distance is on similar level like one year ago, when I was driving in Zafira. Gas consumption was less about 1 m3 in comparison with last year consumption !
